  I was transferred here from Grove City hospital. What a horrible experience. They are apparently severely understaffed. Nurses' calls were routinely ignored. Both my roommate and myself waited for nurses who never came. I was supposed to be discharged but my daytime nurse went home and the night nurse arrived late. I waited for an hour for someone to answer my question about discharge and my roommate waited for an hour for someone to empty her surgical drains because there was apparently NO nurse on the floor to take calls. Seriously? I finally went in my hospital gown and iv stand to the nurses' station to ask why no one had responded only to be told by the one and only nurse there that she had just arrived. God only knows what would have happened if anyone would have had a serious emergency. If this is the best Pittsburgh has to offer, I'll take my chances elsewhere.

  Allegheny General is in the business to provide service to their customers, with that being said. The hospital needs to relay that information to the aids and nurses that work there! Our experience was we were taking care of ourselves as nurses were having gossip sessions. Poor customer service for sure! I've had better service at McDonald's. We will never go back to Allegany! Omg had to go back, same experience. Thank God I was able to stay and take care of my loved one. I should be getting a 80 percent discount on this hospital stay. I will say the only highlight was nurse Stephanie, what a great nurse!
